On the afternoon of May 29, 2026, Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, in collaboration with Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital (Taiwan), organized a specialized seminar entitled “Chewing and Swallowing Disorders” at Meeting Room 3, 6th Floor, Building A. The event was one of the key academic activities under the cooperation program between the two institutions, aiming to enhance the quality of education, scientific research, and clinical practice in the field of rehabilitation.
The seminar was attended by lecturers and students from the Faculties of Rehabilitation and Nursing, trainees enrolled through the Center for Human Resource Training in Response to Social Needs, representatives of Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital, and volunteers from the AVI organization.
During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to attend in-depth presentations delivered by international experts specializing in chewing and swallowing disorders. Ms. Ciara Spillane, an AVI volunteer, presented the topic “Screening for Signs of Chewing and Swallowing Disorders,” providing updated knowledge on early identification, assessment, and intervention for individuals experiencing difficulties with chewing and swallowing functions.
In addition, Dr. Phung Minh Chau, Deputy Director of Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital (Taiwan), shared valuable experiences in the development and implementation of rehabilitation services for chewing and swallowing disorders in Taiwan. The presentation offered practical insights, broadened professional perspectives, and opened up opportunities for future collaboration in education, research, and clinical applications among participating institutions.
Through this seminar, Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy continues to affirm its commitment to promoting international cooperation, enhancing training quality, and developing a highly qualified healthcare workforce capable of meeting the growing healthcare needs of the community.
